Group Rhodesian British South Africa Company BSACo Native Hut Tax Token Rhodesia

This is a group of 6x original British South Africa Company Native hut tax tokens from the early years of Rhodesia, used shortly after the conquest at a time when it was still ruled and administered by the BSACo. To help pay for the costs of administration and to encourage natives to sell their labour for at least part of the year, the hut tax was introduced. A new token was made each year to be hung outside of huts to prove the tax had been paid for that year.

Individually, these hut tax tokens are pretty hard to find nowadays and it’s even harder to find a small collection of them so hopefully these will go to a good home with someone who appreciated early Rhodesian history. The 6 here are for the years:
